Daily Express – Farage: UK must end funding France until small boats halted

    June 26, 2024

The Daily Express gives the latest on Princess Anne’s condition following her injury over the weekend and it also urges England to “do better” at the Euros. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage is pictured on the front of the tabloid, insisting the UK must bring a halt to funding France until small boats are stopped from crossing the English Channel.

Nigel Farage fumes at France over Channel migrants and demands Royal Marines intervene

Britain must cut off payments to France if they continue shadowing migrants across the Channel, Nigel Farage has declared. The Reform UK leader accused Paris of “aiding and abetting the criminal gangs” cramming asylum seekers into small boats. The Daily Express joined Mr Farage on the Channel on Tuesday morning and witnessed a French rescue ship following a migrant dinghy for several hours as it made its way towards the halfway point. As a result, she was admitted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with concussion and minor injuries, where she remains. Buckingham Palace confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday. She is expected to make a full recovery. [https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1915182/princess-anne-six-word-health-update]

England face UEFA punishment after breaching rules in Slovenia Euro 2024 draw

England could be penalised by UEFA because of the irate reactions of some fans to their 0-0 Euro 2024 draw with Slovenia on Tuesday night. Three other countries participating in the tournament have already been reprimanded for similar behaviour from their supporters. Despite an uninspired performance against a team currently ranked 57th in the world rankings, the Three Lions managed to secure top spot in Group C to qualify for the round of 16. 'General election betting scandal' & 'Julian Assange finally free' - Paper Talk

    Editorial 26 June 2024.

Many of Wednesday’s newspapers focus on the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange – who agreed to a plea deal that has seen him set free. He is en route to his native Australia ending a years-long legal battle.

Elsewhere, the betting scandal is also splashed on the papers as another Tory has been implicated in the scandal, and Labour has also found itself wrapped up in the political mess.

Labour has been out and about spreading its election messaging in this morning’s newspaper briefings – convincing readers that the party has changed since 2019 and sharing plans of how they’ll improve the NHS.

Many of the papers feature pictures of Harry Kane as England are through to the Round of 16 at the Euros – although the team’s performance has been widely panned for being flat and boring.
