Jazmel Dashourn Patterson-Low died in the early hours of Saturday morning in Lambeth.

A man shot dead in the early hours of Saturday morning in south London has been named as Jazmel Dashourn Patterson-Low.

Hospital staff called police at around 2.30am when the 26-year-old was dropped off at A&E by car, but he died about half an hour later.

Police say he was shot on the Westbury Estate in St Rule Street, Lambeth, where a group of around 40 people had gathered an argument is believed to have escalated.

Jazmel’s cause of death was confirmed as a single gunshot wound during a post-mortem on Sunday.

The Met says nobody has been arrested as part of their murder investigation yet, but the car used to drop Jazmel off at hospital has been found.

Detective Inspector Martin Thorpe said: ‘Around 40 people had been gathered in and around St Rule Street on Friday evening and the early hours of Saturday morning.

There was a large gathering at the Westbury estate before the shooting

Jazmel died of a single gunshot wound

‘A dispute appears to have flared up rapidly after 2am, resulting in shots being fired.

‘I am extremely grateful to those who have already come forward to provide information.

‘Along with CCTV and forensic inquiries, this has provided numerous lines of inquiry, which detectives are working around the clock to develop.

‘I am certain there are other people who will know what happened in St Rule Street and who was responsible for the shooting. I urge them to come forward and share that information.

‘If you don’t want to speak to police, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously. Some people have already done that – I don’t know who they are, but I have their information and I thank them.’

Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh added: ‘Ever since Saturday morning I have remained in contact with local people and partners in Lambeth.

‘We are all appalled by the brutal killing of Jazmel and we are working together to protect and support the community.

‘Jazmel’s family deserve answers. Dedicated police officers, including specialists from across the Met, are determined to do everything we can for them – to bring whoever killed Jazmel to justice, and to protect the community by taking his killer off the streets.’
