Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made Gareth Southgate his No.1 choice to replace Erik ten Hag as Manchester United boss this summer.
And United investor Ratcliffe is growing increasingly confident of being able to lure the England boss to Old Trafford. His contract runs out in December and the FA are desperate to get him to sign a new one.
But he has refused to discuss his future until after Euro 2024 in Germany. It would cost Ratcliffe around £800,000 in compensation for Southgate – and he would like a decision from him sooner rather than later, so he can plan for next season and beyond.
