Nvidia unveils latest artificial intelligence chip

Nvidia has revealed its latest artificial intelligence (AI) chip, boasting a significant speed boost of 30 times compared to its predecessor.

With an 80% market share, the company aims to solidify its leading position in the industry. Alongside the B200 “Blackwell” chip, Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, outlined a new suite of software tools during its annual developer conference.

Ranked as the third-most valuable company in the US, trailing only Microsoft and Apple, Nvidia has witnessed a remarkable surge in its shares, soaring by 240% over the past year, with a market value touching $2 trillion (£1.57 trillion) last month.

Nvidia announced that major clients like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI are likely to integrate the firm’s latest flagship chip into their cloud-computing services and AI initiatives. The company also introduced new software tools, called microservices, designed to enhance system efficiency, facilitating seamless integration of AI models into business operations.

There will also be a new line of chips tailored for automobiles, capable of running chatbots within vehicles. The company announced partnerships with Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers BYD and Xpeng, both adopting the new chips.

Huang also outlined a series of chips targeted for humanoid robot development, showcasing several robots on stage during the presentation.
