Norway gay bar gun attack video shown as trial starts
Zaniar Matapour, 44, has pleaded not guilty to terror charges at the start of his trial for the murder of two people in a gun attack on two bars in Oslo.
At the start of the trial, a three-minute police video was shown, showing CCTV footage of how the attack unfolded outside the two bars during Pride celebrations.
Passers-by are seen tackling Matapour to the ground.
Prosecutors say the court will have to determine whether he was sane at the time.
Footage from three closed-circuit cameras followed the movements of the gunman as he walked past first the Per pa Hjornet bar and then past the London Pub – both popular with Olso’s gay community. He then opened fire on people sitting outside at tables.
Two men aged 54 and 60 were killed and another nine people were injured with bullet wounds. A number of others were also hurt. In all 19 bullets were fired.
Police say the motive for the attack was extreme religious motives.
