Post Office chairman Henry Staunton steps down
Amid ongoing tensions surrounding the Horizon IT scandal, the chairman of the Post Office, Henry Staunton, has resigned.
Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch requested his departure, emphasising the need for new leadership.
Staunton, who took the position in December 2022, aimed to address the Horizon dispute’s issues in his role. An interim chair is expected to be appointed soon.
A Post Office spokesperson said: “On Saturday afternoon, the Post Office was informed that the business and trade secretary had asked Henry Staunton to stand down as chairman of the Post Office.
“We have been advised by the government that they will appoint an interim chairman shortly.”
