Glen Powell is set to have an incredible 2024 in his career if his new film, Hit Man, is anything to go by.
The actor, who totally stole the show in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, will be returning to our screens in an action-packed Netflix movie, directed by Richard Linklater.
In Hit Man, the 35-year-old stars as a professor and part-time fake hitman working for the police, but things take a turn when he is hired by Madison (Adria Arjona), with his lies quickly spiraling out of control.
Basically it’s a mix of action, comedy, Glen Powell, romance and more action, which sounds very up our street.
The movie is based on the true story of fake assassin Gary Johnson, whose story was captured in the Texas Monthly.
It premiered at Venice Film Festival last year to rave reviews, and currently boasts a seriously impressive 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Guardian described the project as ‘borderline profound’ and a winner, while Variety stated that it is ‘studded with delicious moments’, but went on for ‘too long’.
Mashable suggested that it could be 2024’s ‘most killer comedy’ and, despite the fact that the year has only just kicked off, we’re definitely keeping our fingers crossed for this one.
Unfortunately, the blockbuster is slated for release on the streaming platform on June 7, meaning we have a massive wait ahead of us.
The official synopsis reads: ‘Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater’s sunlit neo-noir stars Glen Powell as strait-laced professor Gary Johnson, who moonlights as a fake hit man for the New Orleans Police Department.

‘Preternaturally gifted at inhabiting different guises and personalities to catch hapless people hoping to bump off their enemies, Gary descends into morally dubious territory when he finds himself attracted to one of those potential criminals, a beautiful young woman named Madison (Adria Arjona).
‘As Madison falls for one of Gary’s hit man personas – the mysteriously sexy Ron – their steamy affair sets off a chain reaction of play acting, deception, and escalating stakes.
‘Co-written by Linklater and Powell and inspired by an unbelievable true story, Hit Man is a cleverly existential comedy about identity.’
Glen served as co-writer as well as leading the star-studded cast, including Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard and Evan Holtzman.

Spilling the beans about Hit Man, Richard told Netflix: ‘It’s about identity and self and passion. But on a plot level, it’s just a guy who gets in a little too deep.
‘His passions lead him in a direction where he’s deceiving someone he’s in love with, and being someone else. They have to deal with those repercussions.’
Bring it on!
Hit Man will be released in select cinemas before premiering on Netflix on June 7.
