At least 39 people were killed and nine were injured after a fire broke out in a building in China’s southeastern Jiangxi province on Wednesday, according to state media Wednesday.
The fire broke out around 3.30pm in Xinyu, in the basement of a store, according to a statement by the local government.
State broadcaster China Central Television reported that several people were trapped inside.
