The Guardian – Surge in modern slavery in social care sector since visa rules eased 

The Guardian claims modern slavery is surging in the social care sector after ministers relaxed immigration rules to fill thousands of vacancies, with growing numbers of workers being ripped off or forced to live in squalor.

Its lead story cites unpublished figures from an anti-slavery charity that show at least 800 people working in care homes or residences were recorded as potential victims in 2023.
