A TV presenter has appeared to have accidentally revealed themselves as being behind one of the costumes on The Masked Singer UK.
Chef Simon Rimmer, 60, seemed to let slip live on TV on today’s Sunday Brunch he was one of the celebrities competing in the ITV singing competition while speaking to Julia Sawalha who was recently unveiled as Bubble Tea on the show.
However, it is unclear whether the broadcaster, who was recently forced to close his Manchester restaurant after 33 years, made a genuine slip-up or was joking to throw Masked Singer fans off the scent.
The moment happened when Absolutely Fabulous legend Julia, 55, reflected on being unmasked as Bubble Tea, admitting she had no idea what the drink was prior to joining the show.
‘I always assumed that you picked your own costumes,’ Simon commented. ‘Because I know when I …’

Before he could finish his sentence, he realised his ‘mistake’ and immediately put his hand over his face.
‘I think I gave it away then,’ he murmured to his Sunday Brunch co-host Tim Lovejoy.
Looking completely shocked, Julia’s jaw dropped to the floor as they quickly moved on to another subject.

Rumours have previously swirled that Simon could be Dippy Egg on The Masked Singer because clues have implied the celebrity works in the cooking world.
Gregg Wallace, former Bake Off presenter Matt Lucas, chef Jimmy Doherty and former BBC Breakfast star Dan Walker are among the other theories.
After being unveiled as Dippy Egg on Saturday, Julia explained why she took the leap to compete on the show.
‘I wanted to do something that would really take me out of my comfort zone.
‘I like to do jobs that actually I’m really terrified of because then they’re a big challenge. This lived up to that!’

‘The panel’s guesses were just so hilarious,’ she continued. ‘I couldn’t believe they thought I was Hannah Waddingham.
So far on the 2024 series of The Masked Singer, Dionne Warwick was unmasked as Weather, Pointless host Alexander Armstrong was Chicken Caesar, Strictly judge Ballas was Rat and now Julia has been exposed as Bubble Tea.
ITV declined to comment when approached by Metro.co.uk. Simon’s rep has also been contacted for this article.
The Masked Singer continues on Saturday on ITV and ITVX at 7pm, while Sunday Brunch airs Sundays on Channel 4 from 9.30am.
