Gordon Ramsay has gone into a few bad books after apparently being caught parking on double yellow lines while visiting a friend in Cornwall.

The famous TV chef, 57, was spotted driving his Ferrari around the coastal village of Padstow, which is roughly 20 miles north of Newquay.

While there, it’s rumoured that he was visiting his protégé and fellow chef Paul Ainsworth, who runs the No.6 restaurant near to the village’s harbour.

And during that brief visit, pictures taken by passers-by appeared to show a large grey Ferrari, similar to Ramsay’s, parked where it shouldn’t have been.

The car, apparently worth upwards of £300,000, was parked on double yellow lines in the village centre, near to where the Kitchen Nightmares star had been driving earlier in the day.

This then resulted in a picture of the Ferrari being posted on Facebook by a man named Guy Wilson, which then led to Ramsay receiving quite significant criticism from members of the public who laid eyes on the post.

‘Double yellow lines must not count when the car is so expensive,’ one user said, while another took umbrage at the price of the Ferrari, referring to the six-figure sum as ‘alright for some’.

Another user said: ‘Not all wealthy people behave as though they’re above the law but many are very entitled.’

On Twitter, one person, John, vociferously posted: ‘Pr**ks like [Ramsay] think that double yellow lines don’t apply to them because they have plenty of money to pay the fine. Take the cars and crush them.’

However, many people sprung to Ramsay’s defence, saying that they had often broken similar rules themselves and that a person’s wealth, or the cost of their car, doesn’t necessarily reflect their attitude.

‘So if he had a charabanc or a rust bucket it’s ok to park on double yellows then? Providing he’s treated like all other people by the parking people what does it matter,’ one user argued back.

Another said: ‘Oh come on, we have all done this at some time in our lives,’ before adding that, while they couldn’t remember when, they were keen to remind others not to throw stones in glass houses.

Ramsay and his wife Tana, 49, are said to own a second home in the Cornish area and have been known to spend considerable time out there.

It’s been alleged that the Ramsays caused a bit of bother on social media when they were said to have left London to wait out the pandemic in their Cornwall home, irritating local residents.

One person, on the You Shouldn’t Be Here Facebook page, referred to Ramsay as a ‘big s***’ who ‘should take himself and his family the hell out of Cornwall’.

In Ramsay’s defence, a friend of the chef told Metro.co.uk that he thought of his seaside house in Cornwall ‘as his home’, despite the ‘hurtful and unnecessary’ backlash.

Gordon Ramsay’s representatives have been contacted for comment.
