It turns out a current star on The Traitors is actually no stranger to TV game shows.

Paul Gorton, 36, is chasing the cash prize of up to £120,000 on the hit BBC reality show, but eagle eyed fans have spotted he once appeared on Deal Or No Deal.

The business manager and aspiring comedian might be playing a game of bluff and deceit in 2024, but back in 2010 he was trying his luck on Noel Edmonds’ iconic programme.

Paul – now appearing on screen as a charismatic traitor alongside Harry and Miles – was just 22 at the time, unemployed and living with his girlfriend at his mum’s house in Warrington.

As well as a potential £250,000 cash prize, the Manchester-born contestant was also hoping to land a modelling deal by appearing on classic show.

Unfortunately, he came away with just 10p when all was said and done.

He’s not the only star from this series to have history on Deal Or No Deal either, as Kyra Johnson – who was ‘killed off’ by Paul and his fellow traitors last week – took on the challenge just two months ago.

She ended up eliminating two of the so-called Big Five boxes, and by the end she was left with the choice of one containing £4,000 and another with just £1 – but she then took the Banker’s offer of £1,800.

Speaking to iNews late last year about his time on the ITV show, Paul was full of praise for Noel himself.

‘I don’t know whether that was just me, but I couldn’t keep my eyes off him. You know, some people are just born for the job they’re in,’ he said. ‘He was born to be a host on that show. He did it so well.’

Deal Or No Deal may actually have prepared them for life in the Traitors Castle, after rumours spread backstage about a ‘mole’ among the contestants.

‘You would kind of give a little bit of information away to someone privately, but then Noel would bring it up on the show,’ Paul explained, recalling a time he told another person that the lowest offer he’d accept was £15,000, which was the first figure presented to him by the Banker.

He added: ‘As soon as it came through, I didn’t think about the money, I just thought to myself: “Oh my God, the mole is real.” ‘

Now, dad-of-one Paul – who has son Charlie with model and content creator Kate Waldron – is one of the Traitors on the BBC show hoping to go undetected.

Before entering the castle, he was hoping his experience in the boardroom would help him out.

‘People think that with a poker face you always have to be stern, be stoic and not show emotion, I disagree with that,’ he explained.

‘I think if you can show happiness when you’re really sad or sadness when you’re really happy, those are better qualities.’

The Traitors continues tonight on BBC One at 9pm.
