Evelyn Plummer’s (Maureen Lipman) stresses increase again in Coronation Street soon as she confronts Cassie (Claire Sweeney) about the way she’s looking after Ruby (Billie Naylor).
Cassie and Evelyn are tasked with looking after Ruby and Hope (Isabella Flanagan) for two weeks because Tyrone (Alan Halsall) is off to Italy with Fiz (Jennie McAlpine).
When Tyrone updates Evelyn on his holiday plan, he says he wouldn’t dare to leave the girls with Cassie for a fortnight and needs her help. Later on, Roy (David Neilson) assures Nina (Mollie Gallagher) that she’s welcome to move back into her old bedroom, and he’ll have a word with Evelyn about her moving out.

With Tyrone gone, it appears Evelyn is in for a hellish few weeks as Cassie applies nail extensions to Ruby’s nails, ignoring school rules, and then gives her crisps for breakfast.
Having taken a call from the school, Evelyn tears a strip off Cassie and tells her she’s nothing but a hindrance when it comes to the girls.
But can they find common ground and work together while Ty is away?

As troubled as the character is, Claire Sweeney recently confirmed that no matter what Cassie faces over the next few weeks, she will always do her best to prevent losing the little family set-up she now has.

‘I think Cassie’s favourite thing is sitting on the sofa with the hustle and bustle of the kids getting ready for school, Tyrone getting himself sorted and just being part of this family. That’s all she craves. And her biggest fear is losing that.
