Shortly after the car crash that killed Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling) in Emmerdale, Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) and Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) were questioned by the police.
Heath’s devastating death aired at the start of this week. The trio had stolen Wendy’s (Susan Cookson) car with the intention of getting to a party in Hotten, but things took a horrible turn when the car crashed through a wall.
An investigation got underway due to underage driving and being slightly intoxicated.
When a nervous Cathy was questioned, she told the police Angelica was driving the car when it crashed.

However, when Angelica was interviewed, she failed to confirm the claim.
This has left Cathy troubled and frustrated. Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) fully accepted Cathy’s version of events and urged Bob (Tony Audenshaw) to do the same, but when Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) defended Angelica by pointing out that Cathy’s previous behaviour has been erratic and sometimes dangerous, Bob changed his mind.
He thought that Cathy had never cared about Heath, remembering the time she smashed his guitar up. Cathy suffers from a condition called PMDD that causes her to have massive mood swings, and the guitar incident was caused by that, but in Bob’s anger and grief he was ignoring that.

As the complete truth about the crash remains unknown for now, some Emmerdale fans are on Cathy’s side, believing this part of the storyline is airing to have a greater impact on her and Bob’s relationship.

Remembering the fact Cathy had driving lessons with her brother Scott in the Lake District, one Emmerdale audience member said on social media: ‘As annoying as Cathy is, I don’t think she was the one that crashed the car. I reckon that when Heath said to switch drivers cos she was too slow, that’s when Angel drove and cos she has never driven she crashed whereas Cathy has been taught’.
Another wrote: ‘Cathy cried wolf for so long noone is going to believe her but this time she may well be telling truth and little Angel telling porkies’.
Remembering the crash that aired a few months ago, which featured Moira (Natalie J Robb) accidentally colliding with Nicola’s (Nicola Wheeler) car, this Twitter/X user said: ‘
‘Parallel to Nicola and Moira’s accident, and how Angelica also lies, I’m starting to think Cathy might actually be telling the truth.’
Following the departure of Heath, actor Sebastian Dowling took to social media to say his goodbye to Emmerdale fans.
