Supermarket giant Tesco apologised to angered customers after its website and mobile app were hit by “technical issues”.
According to DownDetector, almost 4,000 people reported an issue with the brand’s website. While more customers took to social media to complain at the firm.
One shopper said: “Unable to access site or app to change my delivery for tomorrow for the last hour. Been on hold to support for 30 minutes with no luck.”
While another, writing on X, said: “I’m trying to cancel my order for tomorrow evening but keep getting error messages.” Adding the facepalm emoji to the message.

A third said: “Trying to make payment for Home Delivery grocery order but your system keeps saying ‘Sorry we have a problem confirming your order……’”
According to DownDetector, a majority of users reported issues had reduced by 11pm on Thursday, January 4. However some were still reporting problems on Friday morning.
Writing on X, Tesco apologised to customers. It said: “Hi there, we are currently experiencing some technical issues. Our advice is to please keep trying the app/website.
“Our IT team are aware and working hard to fix these issues at the moment. I do apologise for the inconvenience.”
