Former President Donald Trump revealed during his New Year’s Eve party the reason his wife Melania was absent from the Christmas family photo and events.
Speaking from Mar-a-Lago on Sunday, Trump confirmed reports that Melania has been at the side of a loved one while the family gathered for holiday festivities.
Trump told members of his private club that Melania is ‘right now in the hospital with her mother, her mother Amalija is very ill’.
‘But hopefully she’ll be recovering but she’s been very ill,’ he continued, and then revealed his wife’s location.

‘So I just want to say hello to the first lady, we just spoke, she went down to Miami, a great hospital.’
Trump did not disclose what illness Amialija Knav, 78, is battling, saying only: ‘Hopefully that will be OK. But it’s a tough one, it’s a tough one.’
The ex-president added that Melania ‘sends her love to everybody’ and ‘knows about 95% of you, of the people in this room’.
‘We just want to wish Amalija, that she gets better as quickly as possible,’ he concluded.

Melania whereabouts lately had been unknown, with some members of the club in Palm Beach, Florida, saying they have not been seeing her leave her residence on site.
‘Nobody knows where she is. It’s a mystery,’ said Laurence Leamer, who wrote a book on Mar-a-Lago, last week. ’It’s a strange, isolated life they have in that place.’

A source close to Melania told Fox News Digital that ‘she spent Christmas with her ailing mother’ and that ‘it should be no surprise’ since she ‘has always been very devoted to her entire family’.

Melania has not yet been seen on the campaign trail, which has drawn some speculation on whether she would embrace another four years in the White House.
Trump on Sunday called her a ‘great first lady’, ‘so popular’ and that ‘people love her’.
He added that all of his children were at the New Year’s Eve party except one of his daughters who went skiing.
‘I said go ahead darling, it was skiing. Enjoy yourself, just don’t fall please, don’t hurt yourself,’ Trump said.
‘But my children they’re all here, And I want to thank everybody. We’re going to have a great 2024. We’re going to make America great again.’
