Around 700 staff at Airbus Atlantic fell unwell after eating the firm’s Christmas dinner.
Authorities in France say the workers were left with vomiting and diarrhoea, reports The Sun. It is not known what was served on the company’s festive menu.
Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS) said “100 people” were taken ill after the meal last week. It took place at the aerospace group’s site in western France, says the BBC.
Airbus has been co-operating with the ARS. It aims “to identify the cause of the illness and ensure this cannot happen again in the future”.
An investigation is now underway to find the source of the illness. The wider Airbus group employs 134,000 people and provides products and services in the aircraft, helicopter, defence, space and security industries.
In a separate incident earlier this year, a number of people fell ill and one died, after contracting the rare food-borne illness botulism at a restaurant in Bordeaux
