Former child star Miranda Cosgrove says she has never been drunk or smoked in her entire life.
The iCarly star, 30, is clearly quite the role model, as she has revealed she’s never been drunk before. While she’s never smoked either, she did once try a weed brownie and fell asleep for 17 hours.
‘I’ve never even been buzzed. I’ve sipped things before, but like two sips,’ she said, shocking social media users, who were quick to point out that this is the opposite trajectory to many other child stars.
Miranda shot to fame when she played little Summer Hathaway in School of Rock, but the rocker lifestyle clearly isn’t for her.
Chatting to Josh Peck on the Good Guys podcast, she said: ‘I’ve never been drunk in my entire life. Crazy.’
Explaining why, she added: ‘I think it started off because I was always the designated driver when I went out with my friends, and I sort of liked taking on that role and got used to it and just kind of stuck with it forever.’

However, Miranda isn’t against drinking. On the contrary, she’s open to trying it one day, and is even ‘planning’ on just that.
Though she did admit her 30th birthday milestone – just passed – might’ve been a good time for that. Alas. What a chill person.
Some X, formerly Twitter, users got a little bit offended by this casual admission by The Goldbergs star, though, and a few began ripping into the actor for not succumbing to this societal pressure.
‘When the cop starts pulling out the breathalyzer,’ joked @milkyy_tweets, while @tinygreenbug said: ‘Me in the doctors office with my mom sitting in the corner.’
Meanwhile, @AssMulcherr simply said: ‘LOOOSSSEEERRRRRRRRR.’
‘You’re gonna be on your death bed wishing you threw up in a 7/11 parking lot from being insanely hungover at least once in your life,’ responded @ianportiablues.

But then the floodgates well and truly opened, and hundreds of people leapt to Miranda’s defense.
‘I’ll take some of the flak off Miranda since for some reason people are cooking her for positive, healthy life choices: I’ve never even sipped an alcoholic drink before,’ shared @VigilantesArrow.
‘I admire this woman for being so reasonable and staying healthy ! So….WHY TF ARE PEOPLE COOKING HER?!?!?’ added a perplexed user, @crabadart.
‘To the people in the qrts, if you need alcohol and/or drugs to have fun then I’m sorry but YOU’RE the boring one, not her,’ agreed @InkfishDraws.
Another user, @Socdem_Michael, came in with a lengthy appreciation of the actor: ‘Good for her. Why are some people dunking on her for this? I’ve never been more than buzzed either (rarely ever drink, but when I do I never have more than one or two drinks). Responsible drinking (or total sobriety) should not be viewed as uncool. It’s smart and based, actually.
