Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan revealed the rejection she faced after ‘solidly auditioning’ this year.
Helen, who played Rosie Webster in the ITV soap, explained to presenter Ranvir Singh on Wednesday’s Lorraine that she wanted to have a project to focus on in the upcoming new year.
She said: ‘When you do auditions and I remember there was one audition when I got down to the last two, and I was absolutely gutted.’
When asked if it was a TV project, she added: ‘It was for stage. It was just a goal that I’ve always wanted to do, but I think it’s dealing with the rejections when you don’t get an audition.’
Helen played Rosie Webster over an 18-year period from 2000 when the character was only 10 years old. She left the soap in 2018 to go on maternity leave.
Helen was seen on our screens earlier this year in I’m a Celebrity… South Africa, after appearing in the original series in 2012.

Previously taking part in the Australian version of the challenge at 22 years old, Helen admitted: ‘It was a great distraction, definitely.
She continued telling Lorraine on her ITV breakfast show about how the jungle allowed her time to rediscover what she wanted.
‘Not mum Helen or you know… what do I actually want to do so I feel like I’m in that nice stage where I’m finding myself again.’

Speaking to Ant and Dec about her journey in camp, the soap actress said: ‘I’ve had the time of my life I have just had the best time I am so grateful. I knew I would be bad at the challenge.
The Rosie Webster star previously stressed how much she wanted to make her children proud.
‘There’s a superpower that you’ve got behind you – that’s your children. No bigger power. Every day they make us proud, but this time around you’ll get to make them proud,’ she said.
Helen has three children with her ex-fiancé, Bristol Rovers footballer Scott Sinclair. The former couple, who split in July 2022, have two daughters and a son, who was born in March 2021.
