Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie weren’t exactly the best of friends when they started working together on their new movie.
The Hollywood icons are going head-to-head in the new action blockbuster Maude v Maude, which has been described as a mix of Mr & Mrs Smith and Mission: Impossible.
However, the two actresses were also battling off-screen as much as in front of the camera, with Halle, 57, opening up about their differences for the first time.
‘We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together,’ Halle told Variety at the Red Sea Film Festival this week.
She continued: ‘[I’m] thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with our sensibility and from our point of view. She is formidable.’
The Monster’s Ball actress wouldn’t disclose exactly what caused her rift with Angelina, 48, but promised fans would hear it all soon enough and teased that the story is a ‘good one.’

Luckily, the pair were able to find common ground with each other and bonded over their personal experiences.
‘We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes. We bonded, let’s say that,’ Halle revealed.
The actresses certainly have a lot in common when it comes to dating in the public eye, with Tomb Raider star Angelina famously married to Brad Pitt and going through a highly-publicised bitter divorce, while Halle was previously married to Olivier Martinez with their split also well-documented.
It was announced in April that Hollywood heavyweights Halle and Angelina would be teaming up on a new movie.

Details about the film have been kept tightly under wraps but an insider previously revealed that the blockbuster will be similar to a Bond v Bourne action film, with locations around the globe. There is currently no indication of a release date but, seeing as Halle and Angelina are currently booked and busy, we may be in for a wait.
Angelina is no stranger to going up against another Hollywood titan on-screen, with her famously collaborating with ex-husband Brad on their hit flick Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005. Of course, the former couple met and fell in love on set of the film shortly after his split from then-wife Jennifer Aniston.
Halle is also an action queen having starred in James Bond blockbuster Die Another Day, Catwoman, John Wick and X-Men over the years. She recently starred in and directed MMA drama Bruised, released in 2020.
