Paul Scholes has responded to Antony’s dig at Manchester United legends after he accused former players of ‘unreasonably expressing their opinions’.
Antony has struggled at United since his £85m switch from Ajax in the summer of 2022 with the Brazilian producing just eight goals and three assists in 58 games.
The 23-year-old has faced plenty of criticism for his performances but hit out at pundits this week in an interview with the United Stand.
‘Today, I see criticism coming from former club players and other people in the media, who unreasonably express their opinions and influence thousands of fans, sometimes even when I do not play,’ Antony said.
‘But I’ve never seen them give constructive criticism, which will help me be a better professional.
‘None of them have ever sent me a message to see how I am feeling, especially during this period of turbulence that I am going through. The ‘digital court’ is ruining lives; contexts are left aside, and the truth no longer matters.’
Scholes, responding to Antony’s comments on his Instagram story, said: ‘Run as fast as you can up and down, score goals and make goals pls (please)… good luck tonight my friend (against Chelsea) [blowing kiss emoji].’
