Britney Spears’ estranged father Jamie Spears has had to get his leg amputated after a serious infection.
Reports say there is a chance of reconciliation between the Baby One More Time singer and her father after she was spotted snuggling with mum Lynne.
All eyes have been on little sister Jamie Lynn after her short stint on I’m A Celeb, but before heading to Australia the family had been given some bad news.
The 71-year-old businessman had been in hospital for weeks as doctors tried to fight off an infection in his leg, according to TMZ.
The outlet cited a source close to the family who claimed Jamie had undergone five unsuccessful surgeries in an attempt to contain the massive infection.
Unfortunately, a month ago, doctors decided the only solution was to amputate his leg to remove the risk of it spreading.

Reportedly he has other ailments and has been mentally struggling since the backlash to the conservatorship with the Free Britney movement.
Jamie was the focus of the battle over the conservatorship as he was at the helm of the restrictions placed on the Circus hitmaker, controlling her life and finances.
According to TMZ’s source, Britney has softened in her feelings towards her estranged dad as of late and often misses him.
The Spears family has been rocky surrounding the conservatorship and the release of Britney’s memoir The Woman In Me caused more upheaval in her personal life.
Britney wrote about her strained relationship with Jamie Lynn, sharing: ‘My sister and I should have found comfort in each other, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case.

‘As I was fighting the conservatorship and receiving a lot of press attention, she was writing a book capitalising on it. She rushed out salacious stories about me, many of them hurtful and outrageous. I was really let down.’
However, her reconciliation with her mum suggests things could be calming down as Britney posted a picture together, looking very much on the mend.
During her time in the I’m A Celeb jungle, Jamie Lynn put some speculation about their family to rest and claimed she was very close to her legendary sister.
Before leaving, Jamie Lynn told campmates: ‘I can imagine she’d be worried about me on here. I think she’s probably checking in on me heavily.’
She added: ‘She’s a good big sister, she is. Yeah, I love her.’
