This is why Vice City looks like in the recent remaster (Picture: Rockstar Games)
Never mind your uncle working at Nintendo, imagine if your dad was the co-studio head at Rockstar North and you leaked his new game.
It can’t be easy being a video game developer with a kid that’s interested in gaming, as their temptation to show off and tell their friends what you’re working on must be immense – especially as they probably don’t fully understand the consequences of doing so.
Supposedly, that is what has happened with GTA 6 though, with brief footage of the game appearing on TikTok, which is believed to have been leaked by the son of Rockstar North co-studio head and art director Aaron Garbut.
We can’t show the footage or screenshots for legal reasons but, unfortunately for the Garbuts, it’s very easy to find on TikTok and elsewhere, little more than a day before the first trailer is due to be unveiled.
The footage is only 13 seconds long but while it’s low resolution and choppy it clearly shows a large open world city that seems to match up with leaks from the GTA 6 hack.
So either it’s legit or it’s the world’s most complicated and pointless fake. It does seem to be from quite an early build, but then we have no idea when the game will actually be released – with the most optimistic suggestions being roughly this time next year.

Like most of the GTA 6 leaks, there’s not actually much of significance that can be gleaned, especially as Rockstar Games all but confirmed the Vice City setting with the artwork they used for the trailer date announcement.
Analysis of the leaked footage has already allowed fans to work out a rough map of the game. Since the hacked videos were based on an even earlier version of the game it’s questionable as to how accurate they’ll prove to be, but there are definitely some identical landmarks between both sources.
The teaser trailer will premiere on Tuesday at 2pm GMT, so there’s still time for a few more leaks before the big moment.
Although the only thing you can say for certain at this point is that Take Your Child to Work Day has been indefinitely cancelled at Rockstar.
