Dana White has described the delayed stoppage involving Jalin Turner and Bobby Green at UFC Fight Night in Austin as ‘one of the worst I have ever seen’.
Turner floored Green in the first round of their lightweight contest but referee Kerry Hatley allowed him to keep delivering blows on his prone opponent on the mat.
Green was unable to defend himself and was eventually knocked unconscious before the referee eventually stepped in.
Green was thankfully able to leave the Octagon without assistance but Hatley has been widely criticised for not ending the fight sooner.
‘One of the worst I have ever seen.’ UFC president White said in a post-fight press conference.
‘The difference is, we have had some referees say some dumb s**t in the past like, “I allowed her to be a warrior tonight” and goofy s**t like that.
‘But he knows he made a mistake tonight and he does not feel good about it. It’s unfortunate. It was definitely a bad stoppage.’

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping was part of the ESPN broadcast on Saturday night and branded the incident ‘disgusting and disgraceful.’
‘He [Green]was face down, he was getting teed off on by a world-class, very powerful striker. Bobby Green is still down,’ Bisping said.
‘It could have been stopped right there. Kerry Hatley is a great referee, but what the hell was he waiting for? It is as simple as that.
‘Peoples’ lives are at stake, their long-term health is at stake.
‘He was face down and getting teed off on many, many times. That was utterly disgusting and disgraceful.’
