A murder investigation has been launched by detectives in Wigan after a 37-year-old man was found dead.
Greater Manchester Police arrested a 28-year-old woman on suspicion of murder in what has been described as ‘an isolated incident with no risk to the wider public’.
Police and ambulance were called to Eleanor Street, Wigan, around noon yesterday.
Members of the public reportedly carried out CPR before police and paramedics arrived, but the man died at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police said: ‘A 28-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 37-year-old man was found deceased in Wigan.
‘Officers were called to an address on Eleanor Street in Wigan at around 12.30pm today (Saturday 2 December 2023). On arrival, they discovered a man who had sadly passed away at the scene.

‘GMP launched a murder investigation and a scene has been put in place at the address whilst officers carry out enquiries.’
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, added: ‘This investigation is in it’s very early stages and we are still piecing together the circumstances surrounding this man’s death.
‘We also believe this to be an isolated incident with no risk to the wider public. I would now like to appeal to the public for any information that could aid this investigation to make a report to police – including if you have relevant footage such as mobile, doorbell, CCTV or dashcam.’
