A Deal or No Deal contestant with a terminal diagnosis has left people in tears after only walking away with a measly £4.
On the latest episode of the rebooted game show, contestant Brad revealed to host Stephen Mulhern that he had received a terminal diagnosis last year.
After asking Brad what he would use any prize money for, the player explained why he was rushing to complete his ‘bucket list’ items.
‘Well last year things changed quite a lot for me really and I was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND),’ he said as he started to tear up.
‘The prognosis isn’t really that great.
‘So, I would put it towards things on my bucket list and go and see different places around the world and give my family and partner some money.’

Asking about the bucket list plans, Stephen asked if Brad had been given a specific time frame.
‘Inevitably that is how it goes, but don’t get me wrong, Stephen Hawking lived 55 years however the average is a few years.’
At that point the camera then cut to some of the other contestants, many of whom were crying and wiping away tears as Brad shared his story.
Speaking about how he reacted to being told he would die in a few years, Brad said he ‘kind of gave up’ and was despondent for a few months after.
‘But then I woke up this morning and thought “sod this” and I knew I needed to change the way I was thinking and feeling about things and since I’ve got into that mindset I’ve never been happier because it’s made me realise that things that actually matter, all the stuff I used to care about before, they mean nothing and it’s living life and experiences like this that means something,’ he added.
After the diagnosis Brad said he was now more accepting of himself and felt ‘good enough’.

But when it came to the end of the episode, Brad was left in tears when the prize pool plummeted, and the banker offered him just £4.
Just before the final round, Brad turned to his mum sitting in the audience to ask her advice, with both agreeing he should play on as his luck had been good so far.
However, things took a turn and his dreams to walk away with £75,000 were shattered.
With four boxes left to open that included the £75,000, £5,000, £10 and £5, Brad lost the larger two prizes and then expressed his devastation when being left with the £10 and £5 boxes in play.
He told Stephen: ‘This is my life. I’ve always had such bad luck. Nothing changes, I should have expected this.’

Brad ended up walking away with £5 after choosing to stick with the box he selected at the start of the game.
Despite the devastating result, Brad thanked Stephen, the crew, and his fellow contestants and said it had been ‘amazing’ meeting them all.
Many viewers also expressed their devastation at what unfolded, with many calling it ‘gut-wrenching’, ‘heartbreaking’, and sharing they’d been ‘left in tears’.
‘Brad deserved so much more. Really unlucky guy I hope his life goes better in the future,’ one person posted on X, formerly Twitter.
