Conor McGregor under investigation for ‘inciting hatred’ during Dublin riots

Conor McGregor is being investigated by the gardai for ‘inciting hatred’ around the Dublin riots.

The boxer is part of a wider criminal probe over the events of last Thursday after he wrote on X, formely known as Twitter, Ireland was ‘at war’, the Irish Mirror reports.

He shared his thoughts in response to Garda commissioner Drew Harris referring to the protesters as a ‘hooligan faction driven by far right ideology’.

McGregor said: ‘Innocent children ruthlessly stabbed by a mentally deranged non-national in Dublin, Ireland today.

‘Our chief of police had this to say on the riots in the aftermath. Drew, not good enough.

‘There is grave danger among us in Ireland that should never be here in the first place, and there has been zero action done to support the public in any way, shape or form with this frightening act.

‘Not good enough. Make change or make way. Ireland for the victory. God bless those attacked today, we pray.’

The protests erupted after three children aged between five and six, and a woman in her 30s, were hospitalised after an attack outside a school in Dublin city centre.

He sent out further tweets, saying: ‘You reap what you sow.

‘Any update on the wellbeing of those stabbed today? Absolutely horrific scenes all day, my stomach is churning.

‘With no action being taken at all during these ever more frequent events, like literally zero action taken whatsoever, how do we expect an end to this?

‘We need reform. We need action!’

Irish police confirmed at least 34 people have been arrested after chaos erupted in the Irish capital in response to the stabbing.

A public order unit was deployed in the area, as crowds of protesters gathered and bottles were thrown at officers.

Flares were ignited and a garda car set on fire by what the Irish Garda commissioner called a ‘complete lunatic faction driven by far-right ideology’.

Irish premier Leo Varadkar said the knife attack and riots had brought ‘shame on Ireland’, while Justice Minister Helen McEntee told colleagues that officers are trawling 6,000 hours of CCTV footage, vowing that further arrests would be made.
