Jude Bellingham has overtaken Cristiano Ronaldo’s record at Real Madrid after scoring in their 3-0 win over Cadiz on Sunday.
The England international found the net with an excellent finish with 16 minutes remaining as Carlo Ancelotti’s side resumed their league campaign with a victory following the international break.
Bellingham has made an immediate impact since his €103 million (£88.5m) move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer with 14 goals in 15 appearances so far for Madrid.
And by scoring against Madrid, he becomes the only player for the club to score more than 13 goals in their first 15 games.
Ronaldo also enjoyed a fine start to life at Madrid following his £80m move from Manchester United in 2009 with 13 goals in his first 15 appearances in all competitions.
But the Portugal international could only equal that benchmark set by Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stefano in 1953 and Spanish forward Pruden in 1943.
Bellingham, meanwhile, was an injury doubt for Madrid heading into their clash with Cadiz due to a shoulder injury which forced him to miss the international break with England.
‘Jude is fine,’ Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said after the game.
‘He still has problems in his shoulder but he feels fine with the protection.’
GOALS SCORED AFTER 15 GAMES FOR REAL MADRID
Jude Bellingham – 14
Cristiano Ronaldo – 13
Alfredo Di Stefano – 13
Pruden – 13
Ferenc Puskas – 11
Ruud van Nistelrooy – 9
Raul – 7
Ronaldo – 6
Michael Owen – 6
Karim Benzema – 5
Bellingham’s latest achievement also puts him ahead of other Madrid legends including Ferenc Puskas, Raul and Ronaldo, who all scored fewer than the 20-year-old midfielder after 15 games.
Bellingham will be hoping to extend his scoring run in the Champions League on Wednesday when Madrid host Napoli at the Santiago Bernabeu.
An amazing achievement from Bellingham.
