Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) has been struggling in the wake of killing serial killer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) in Coronation Street, and in recent scenes he finally opened up about how bad things had got.

In tonight’s (November 24) episode, Peter ended up lashing out at several different people, from wife Carla (Alison King) to 15-year-old neighbour Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).

When Peter learnt that Carla had paid Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Beth Tinker (Lisa George) to return to work, he confronted her about it in front of Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) and Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), totally dropping her in it.

Peter was furious at having been kept in the dark, though when Carla insisted that she hadn’t wanted to worry him with her problems, Peter retorted that it was because she didn’t care.

Later, Peter learnt from son Simon (Alex Bain) that Dylan and new friend Mason (Luca Toolan) had stolen a box of vapes that he had planned to sell on the market, leaving Simon devastated and Peter furious.

After learning from Max Turner (Paddy Bever) that it was Dylan who was now selling the vapes, Peter headed round to confront him, and ended up smashing in the front door when Luca mocked him for killing Stephen.

A showdown then ensued, with Dylan protesting his innocence and Sean demanding that Peter leave.

Once Peter had returned home, he got a visit from a very angry Sean, who was threatening to involve the police.

When Carla arrived, she was horrified to learn what had happened and begged Sean to keep the police out of it. Sean agreed, provided that Peter pay to have the locks repaired, saying that he was doing it for Carla and not him.

Furious Carla demanded to know what had got into Peter, but she soon softened when he broke down over his guilt for killing a man.

He told Carla that he was desperate for a drink, but knew that if he picked up a bottle it would end up killing him, and he couldn’t do that to her or Simon.

Carla made it clear that she thought Peter should get help by talking to a professional, but he didn’t think that would make any difference to how he was feeling.

As he asked her what the answers to getting better were, Carla said that he needed to forgive himself, and promised that they would get through this together.
