Andy Robertson provided the latest update on his shoulder surgery but was unwilling to provide an exact timeframe for his return.

The Liverpool left-back initially picked up the injury whilst playing for Scotland against Spain in last month’s international break.

Robertson was forced to undergo surgery on the shoulder and has missed Liverpool’s last seven games in all competitions.

The 29-year-old confirmed that the surgery was a success but suggested there was a long rehabilitation process ahead of him.

‘I’m getting there, slowly and surely,’ Robertson told Viaplay Sports as he visited Hampden Park to watch Scotland’s 3-3 draw with Norway.

‘Surgery was a success which was the main thing, no complications from it or anything like that.

‘It’s so far so good, three weeks since my surgery now so everything is progressing well, I have just got to take it bit by bit and week by week.

‘Everything has gone well up to this point and hopefully that continues. Hopefully, before we know it I’ll be back on the grass.’

In his absence, Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas have been deputising for the Scot at Liverpool but Robertson was unable to provide a clear timeframe for when he will be back to full fitness and ready to return to the starting XI.

‘I’ve not looked that far ahead yet,’ he added. I’m just trying to take it week by week, I’m trying not to get frustrated, I’m not the best injured so I’m trying to take small wins every single week.

‘I don’t want to put a game in mind and then I don’t make it or I come back before then.

‘I am just taking it slowly but surely and then there will be a time to start pushing it and when that comes I’ll try and get on the pitch as quickly as I can.’

After the international break, Klopp’s side return to a crunch fixture as they travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Premier League leaders Manchester City.
