A woman who gave birth to her first baby at 16 is becoming a grandmother at 33, as her youngest daughter has fallen pregnant at 14.
Kerrie Coles had her first child Millie, 16, in February 2007, at Milton Keynes University Hospital, before mum-to-be Hollie, 14, was born in January 2009.
Hollie is now pregnant with her own child – making Kerrie one of Britain’s youngest grandmothers.
With her first grandchild due in February 2024, the domestic assistant, from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, is excited for the new addition to the family.
Recalling the moment Hollie broke the news, Kerrie said: ‘When she told me I cried.
‘I was scared when we first found out, it wasn’t really happiness – I was terrified for her.
‘But I am looking forward to seeing Hollie grow as a person. I am looking forward to seeing her grow up and see how she is as a parent.
‘I can’t wait to get my baby cuddles in without giving birth.’

Hollie added: ‘I’m really excited to become a mum as I have seen my mum as a strong role model of being an amazing parent.
‘Following her footsteps and taking her advice makes me reassured that I can do a good job.’
Because Kerrie was a young mum too, the teenager says she feels ‘comfortable with talking to her about everything’ and can trust her to give ‘the best advice’ – especially as she also had loved ones to help out juggling things like exams.
‘I found it easy at 16 – I found out the week I did my GCSEs,’ said Kerrie.
‘I managed to finish them and I had a lot of support from my family.’

Although Kerrie and Hollie’s dad had separated by the time she was born, the mum-of-two has no regrets.
She said: ‘Overall, we had great memories. We managed to go on holiday. I still managed to provide a life for them.
‘Now they are teenagers we are really close, they are almost like my friends.’

Despite Hollie’s nervousness at revealing to her mum that she was pregnant in July this year, she was met with unwavering support.
The teenager said: ‘I felt overwhelmed. I was shocked and I didn’t know how I was going to adjust to something so big.
‘I was so relieved that mum stuck by my side, but I felt mad at myself for disappointing her.’
While she was initially ‘terrified’, Kerrie’s decision to be there for Hollie was cemented at the ultrasound scan.
‘Seeing the baby on the screen was a real moment for me,’ she said. ‘I had to stick by her.’
Hollie – who is expecting a boy – is now 25 weeks pregnant and is still studying. She is expected to give birth in February 2024.
‘It’s been full of challenges, but it feels so rewarding to get over them,’ said the mother-to-be.
‘I love knowing he is there,’ she added: ‘I am looking forward to letting him know that I have his back in life; that I will always be by his side and he has an amazing family.’
