Bernie Winter has to face the consequences (Picture: ITV)
Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) was in court in Monday’s (November 13) episode of Coronation Street after being arrested for handling stolen goods.
At first, Bernie was her usual confident self and told duty solicitor Joel (Calum Lill) she’ll plead no guilty and they’ll be home in time for dinner.
Joel pointed out that it’s actually better for Bernie to say she is guilty, as the police have photographic evidence of her committing the crime.
In the court room, Bernie followed Joel’s advice and said she’s guilty which shocked her family.

The Judge then revealed that because of Bernie’s history, she has no choice but to impose a custodial sentence.
Back at Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) flat, Bernie continued to try and be strong for her loved ones.
She sat down and said the maximum amount of time she could get in prison is six months – which left Paul aware he might not be alive by the time she gets out, following the news he only has 6-12 months left to live.

Bernie then said they can either be sad over this twist, or embrace every single day they have left with each other.
With that, the family headed to the Bistro for drinks.
