Big Brother star Chanelle Bowen has opened up about her relationship with Trish Balusa and the trolling she’s experienced after viewers reacted to their row.
On Friday evening, the two housemates were evicted from the ITV2 series in a double eviction, which saw the fans who were there in person cheer and boo in their masses.
More tantalising drama has unfolded in the House since their exits, with Jordan Sangha and Henry Southan’s connection growing from friendship to almost definitely something more in recent steamy scenes.
While speaking to Metro.co.uk after she was voted out, Chanelle, 29, reflected on the relationship that she had with Trish, 33, stressing that there was no ‘personal vendetta’.
On one hand, Trish became known for being upfront when there was something bothering her, whilst Chanelle preferred to avoid confrontation where possible, which resulted in the pair of them sometimes not seeing eye to eye.
Speaking about Trish’s approach, Chanelle told us: ‘I look up to her in a way, that she has that ability to confront situations head on, and I wish I was more like that. But unfortunately, I’m not. It’s just not in me to be like that. So it depends whether the people who are watching like that confrontation.’

Referring to instances where she was seen talking to the people she was closest to in the House about other people – including Trish – she added: ‘I’ve been criticised for being a cop-out and being this and being that, and being bitchy. But for me, it’s talking to my friends about the situation when it’s minor.’
Chanelle insisted that when she ‘felt like the conversation needed to be had’, she would ‘go and have it’.
‘But I just didn’t feel the need to go and have little ones every single day,’ she continued.
‘And I think that’s what people need to remember – it really isn’t that deep, and I feel like it’s been catastrophised to be this “Chanelle versus Trish”. That weren’t the case at all. For me it’s not anyway.’
The dental therapist added that there was ‘no personal vendetta or anything like that’ between her and Trish.

‘You won’t have common ground with everyone and I think that’s just day to day life, even in the outside, and I think people just need to remember that,’ she stated.
‘It was no personal vendetta or anything like that. It’s just sometimes you won’t get on with everyone, but we didn’t not get on in the House.’
Bringing up the criticisms that she’s received from Big Brother viewers, Chanelle emphasised the importance of people remembering to be kind on social media, as ‘mean’ jibes can genuinely ‘hurt’.
‘We kind of say hashtag “Be Kind”, but we also need to action it as well. Because, I’ve never ever been exposed to trolling like that. I am human,’ she shared.

Trish recently issued an apology on social media for past tweets that resurfaced (Picture: Shutterstock for Big Brother)
‘Some will like me, some won’t, but these things do hurt. I think people just need to reflect and look at the bigger picture sometimes.
‘You don’t know the full story and before you go writing really mean stuff – I’ve had a lot of that. It’s just not nice. I am a nice girl. My heart’s in the right place, and just because I had a disagreement doesn’t mean I’m all of these things that I’m being portrayed to be so.
‘But that’s what you signed up to, so you’ve got to take the good with the bad.’
Since being evicted, Trish has apologised on social media after old posts that she shared on X (formerly Twitter) that contained homophobic and racist language resurfaced.
In her apology, which was shared on Instagram, she wrote: ‘I’m aware that some very concerning old tweets of mine have resurfaced, and I would like to sincerely apologise for the harmful stereotypes I perpetuated and the pain I have caused to the marginalised communities and groups of people mentioned.’
Big Brother returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
