Bruno Fernandes needs to help out Rasmus Hojlund as the Manchester United striker still searches for his first Premier League goal, says Paul Scholes.
Hojlund has made a good start in the Champions League since his summer move from Atalanta, scoring three goals in three games, but things have not been so successful domestically.
Eight Premier League games have gone by without the Dane finding the back of the net and, although fans are being patient with the 20-year-old, the striker will be struggling for confidence and growing in his frustrations the longer his wait goes on.
Manchester United legend Scholes likes the look of the Danish forward, but thinks he needs more help, specifically from Fernandes, who can do more to create chances for his centre-forward.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Scholes said: ‘I think Bruno Fernandes needs to help Hojlund a bit more. This is a young lad who’s come over from a different country, he’s not scored a Premier League goal. He’s so young and he needs help.
‘I think Fernandes needs to get as close to him as he possibly can, because half the time he’s out, all over the pitch. Play your position and help the kid out and this lad will score goals.
‘He’s very young and inexperienced, but the lad can finish, we’ve seen that, it’s just a question of getting the chances.’
Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag backed his young striker ahead of United’s trip to Copenhagen on Wednesday, saying: ‘I think he integrates very good. He’s scored already three goals in the Champions League, it’s very good for the integration period.
‘As a team, we can be better in possession stuff, we can create more and better chances that will give our offensive players more opportunities to score goals.

‘Social-wise, he integrates very good in the team and the club. From here on, he has to take it on and improve. That’s the character from Rasmus, he wants to improve every day. It’s lovely to work with him, such characters.
‘He understands but, of course, we speak with him about [adapting] because he’s still a young player but he’s smart and he understands the situation, so he’s aware of it.
‘He wants to score goals and when he’s not he’s so keen to score the next game and he’s working very hard in training to get his progress in.’
