Paul Scholes is not expecting Manchester United to turn their Champions League campaign around, predicting a difficult night for them at FC Copenhagen on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils had a disastrous start to their return to Champions League action, losing at Bayern Munich and then beaten at home by Galatasaray, leaving the campaign in a mess.
A narrow 1-0 win over Copenhagen at Old Trafford last time out has kept their hopes alive, but they must build on that when they go to Denmark this week.
Scholes is far from convinced, and when asked if he fancied his former club to progress from their group, he told TNT Sports: ‘If I was a betting man, I’d say no.
‘They showed last year they’re frail in away games – you think of Sevilla away. It was a brilliant atmosphere, it was hostile – they crumbled, they couldn’t handle it.
‘It makes me worry about going to Copenhagen, who aren’t a brilliant team but they’re organised.
‘I don’t know if there’s the character and fighters in that team to be able to cope with a big atmosphere. But if they do win in Copenhagen, it gives them a real chance.’

If Bayern Munich beat Galatasaray in Germany on Wednesday and the Red Devils do win in Copenhagen then things will be looking pretty good again in terms of qualification, but Scholes clearly has a bad feeling about the visit to Scandinavia.
‘They were very lucky at home against Copenhagen, they didn’t play very well at all. They have half a chance of qualifying,’ he said.
‘It’s so hard going to Copenhagen, these European away games are tough. If they make it a hostile atmosphere, you have to worry about the frailty of Manchester United – they could really crumble under that pressure.’
