Harry and Meghan have hit back at claims they declined an invitation to King Charles’s 75th birthday bash.
Claims originally published by the Sunday Times suggested Harry had declined an invite to the monarch’s milestone birthday celebration at Clarence House in London.
Insiders claimed the Duke of Sussex had turned down an invite, not long after declining an offer to join the king in Balmoral on the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
But the couple have slammed the claims – and say there has been ‘no contact’ from the royal family in relation to an invitation to celebrate Charles’s birthday.
A spokeswoman for the Archewell Foundation told Metro.co.uk: ‘In response to UK media headlines, there has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday.
‘It is disappointing the Sunday Times has misreported this story.’
A source close to the Sussexes told MailOnline that not only were the pair not invited, they were completely unaware of any party until the stories broke – and the Sunday Times did not reach out to Harry and Meghan before publication.
The claims were in stark contrast to Charles’s 70th birthday, as Harry and Meghan delayed their honeymoon to attend his garden party celebration.
But since then revelations in his bombshell memoir Spare appear to have caused tensions within the Royal Family.
It’s thought Harry and Charles haven’t spoken to each other in person since last September, during the mourning period and funeral for the late Queen.
Harry did fly to the UK from California to attend King Charles’s coronation in May, but he was on British soil for less than 24 hours and only popped into Buckingham Palace briefly before returning to the US.
A royal insider claimed the Duke of Sussex didn’t receive any birthday messages from his father or brother, Prince William, in September, with the Royal Family not publicly noting his or daughter Lilibet’s birthdays as they have for other royals this year.
