Craving some winter sunshine? Us too.

Well, you wouldn’t be surprised if we told you that pre-Christmas is a good time to head to the Caribbean – the hurricane season has bid adieu but peak prices have yet to take effect.

We’ve gone on the hunt for the hottest, cut-price Caribbean late-deal getaways to be booked right now and banish those winter blues.

    So let’s get into it…

    St Lucian tonic

St Lucia’s whitewashed Soco House is courtesy of a better-than-half-price deal. The 76-room, adults-only hotel is based minutes from Reduit Beach’s long arc of sand, guests stay on an all-inclusive basis which extends to à la carte dinners and poolside, sunset-facing cocktails. There’s also 25% off spa treatments.

Enjoy seven nights from £1,385pp, all-inclusive, including flights, checked luggage and transfers, departing December 5, at Travel Zoo.

    Luxury resort flash sale

A flash sale by Sandals, known for its luxurious, couples-only, truly-all-inclusive (alcohol, unlimited watersports and more) Caribbean resorts, is offering £200 off stays at its three newest properties.

Those are Sandals Royal Curaçao on the southerly, Dutch-Caribbean isle of Curaçao, the forthcoming Sandals St Vincent and the Grenadines (opening on March 27) and Sandals Dunn’s River, which has reopened on Jamaica’s north coast.

Deals starts from £2,413pp (at Sandals Dunn’s River), all-inclusive, including flights, via Sandals Resorts.

    Do good when you book

Purchase a trip through Charitable Travel and the non-profit operator will sacrifice agency commissions so that you can make a free 5% donation to your chosen charity.

That translates to £128 if you depart on January 5 and spend a week exploring unsung, lush Tobago.

While staying temptingly close to the beach in a 20-room eco-boutique, you’re also encouraged to bird-watch in rainforests, walk to waterfalls, tour award-winning cocoa estates and visit 18th-century British forts for a fuller island perspective.

Book for seven nights from £1,285pp, B&B, including flights and private transfers, with Charitable Travel.

    Barbados walking tour

Spending 10 nights in Barbados, this leisurely group tour includes guided walks past palm-fringed beaches, heritage trails and botanical gardens while based at a beachside hotel.

You’ll see much of the island’s tropical interior, too, with eyes peeled for green monkeys, as well as its lively capital, Bridgetown.

Cooling trade winds will mitigate average temperatures of 28°C, and there’s always the promise of a rum punch at sunset.

If you can make the November 24 departure, savings of £506pp are being offered.

From £2,789pp, half-board, including flights, all transport and entrance fees, Rambler Holidays.

    All-inclusive Antigua

Here’s a classic fly-and-flop option. Just ten minutes’ transfer from Antigua’s airport — where you’ll fly direct — the beachside Ocean Point Hotel has a huge seafront pool, two coves with complimentary sunbeds, palm trees, colourful bougainvillea blooms and fresh Caribbean food whenever desired.

There’s also a resident cat and dog. Golf courses are close by, and snorkelling or turtle-spotting day trips can be arranged.

Every Mediterranean-style room has a private veranda or balcony.

Seven nights from £1,553pp, all-inclusive, including flights, departing in November, British Airways.
