RuPaul’s Drag Race UK queen Banksie demands major change to next season

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Banksie has thrown their support behind an idea for the public to get a say in who stays in the competition.

On this week’s episode of the reality series, the remaining queens had a huge task ahead of them when given the challenge to perform in the highly anticipated Rusical, which this time was titled Pant-Oh She Better Don’t: The Rusical.

However afterwards it was decided that Banksie and DeDeLicious would fight for their place in the lip sync for their lives, with the former being sent home after belting out Susan Boyle’s cover of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables.

While they missed out on her chance to be crowned the Next Drag Superstar, Banksie has shared one major change they’d like to see next season when it comes to how queens are eliminated.

When chatting to Metro.co.uk about whether they were ‘robbed’, Banksie had a very measured response.

‘Now I think…the thing that I found was that that episode was such a strong episode and there were so many strong people in that episode,’ they said.

‘You know, at the end of the day, if one of us just slightly went below the mark when needed to be there [puts hand above head] it was going to happen.’

However, they then explained how an idea from a friend had sparked an interesting thought on how the show could operate going forward.

‘These are opinions of four people sitting on a table you know, [but] someone said to me last night we need to do a live series where you actually phone in and you pick someone to stay you know like The X Factor [like a public vote],’ they explained.

‘You could add a viewing party and you’d be like “I’m doing 17 for Banksie and she is not going home tonight”. You know what I mean?’

While discussing the pressures of the show, Banksie also revealed nerves got the best of them – leading to a bit of an awkward situation on stage.

‘Vicki also made me wee myself on the day I was laughing that hard,’ they shared.

‘I literally a weed myself every single time I was on the Drag Race stage. I don’t know what happened.

‘I’m making it sound like I’m incontinent but I think it just RuPaul being literally three feet away from you with this like beautiful painted faces looking at you and you’re like, “I’m not worthy”.’

Bladder mishaps aside, Banksie has now turned their attention to another reality franchise and has aspirations to appear on any future The Traitors celebrity spin-offs.

    ‘That’s my dream,’ they said.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK returns next Thursday at 9pm on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
