Leonardo DiCaprio was willing to go the extra mile for his new blockbuster, Killers of the Flower Moon, including wearing a fake bum for a spanking scene.
The Titanic actor is directed once again by Martin Scorsese in the Western movie, which also stars Robert De Niro and is based on a true story.
It follows a major FBI investigation that took place in the 1920s when members of the Osage tribe in the US were murdered under mysterious circumstances in Osage County in Oklahoma.
Killers of the Flower Moon is based on the book of the same name written by journalist David Grann but one scene in particular was improvised and not part of the script.
Ruthless businessman William Hale (De Niro) marries MollIe Kyle (Lily Gladstone), a wealthy Native American as part of a plot to kill members of the Osage family in order to steal their Oklahoma land, where some of the world’s richest oil fields lay.
As the scene goes, Hale’s nephew Ernest Buckhart (DiCaprio) scuppers that plan and is punished by his uncle, who tells the grown man to bend over before spanking him with a wooden paddle.

According to the film’s cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, it was completely unplanned but Leo, 48, was ready and wore protection – aka a fake bum – for the moment.
‘I don’t think that was in the first script,’ Prieto told Insider. ‘That was something that was added, and it’s shocking in the film.’
He added: ‘I do remember doing them quite a few times and thinking, “Oh, that must hurt”. There was some padding on his butt. But you could tell De Niro was really hitting him.
‘Leo is game for so much. He’ll do anything.’
Prieto’s not wrong as Leo famously went to extreme lengths to play frontiersman Hugh Glass in survival epic The Revenant, which saw him film for weeks in the arctic temperatures. It paid off though as it finally earned Leo the best actor Oscar in 2015.
For those wanting to get a closer look at Leo’s new butt in his latest film, Prieto believes the scene takes place halfway through the movie which spans three hours and 26 minutes.

Killers of the Flower Moon has earned rave reviews so far and a neat 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Gladstone in particular has received glowing reviews for her breakout performance alongside Hollywood heavyweights DiCaprio and De Niro, 80.
Julie O’Keefe, who served as lead Osage wardrobe consultant alongside costume designer Jacqueline West, opened up about the correlation between Gladstone’s character Mollie and her wardrobe.
‘It was so moving how Lily relied on her,’ O’Keefe told Metro.co.uk.
‘I made her clothing and designed it based on photographs, but the nuance of how she wore her blanket and her shawl was so important for it to make her feel she was Mollie.’

With the actress often in closed rehearsals with Scorsese and DiCaprio, O’Keefe would be standing by, ready to assist her with her costume and how she should wear – and could move – in traditional Osage garments.
‘I would go into Lily’s trailer and I would say, “Okay, today, show me exactly what you’re going to be doing,” because when you look at this movie, one of the takeaways from what’s going on in the life event of an Osage is how they’re wearing their blanket or how they’re wearing their shawl,’ O’Keefe shared.
‘She’s prim and proper, she’s an Osage lady who’s in the back of his taxi, and she’s representing herself how she would, but in a dignified way – and that’s how she’s wearing that shawl,’ she added.
Killers of the Flower Moon is available to watch in cinemas and on Apple TV+.
