Natasha died in 2021 (Picture: ITV)
Two years ago in Coronation Street the residents were shocked by the death of Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac), shot by evil Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).
Natasha was wearing a Halloween party outfit, but unluckily for her it was the same Morticia Addams one that Leanne (Jane Danson) was wearing. This meant that when murderous Harvey set off to kill Leanne, he ended up shooting Natasha instead.
This left Sam (Jude Riordan) totally traumatised and it took a long time for him to come to terms with his mum’s death and be able to carry on with his life. For Nick (Ben Price) and Leanne the horrific memories of Halloween 2021 were rekindled again when Sam persuaded them that he wanted to visit his mum’s killer in prison.
So Halloween is not the happiest of festivals for the family, but this year Sam insists he wants Nick and Leanne to throw a Halloween party. He points out it’s what his mum would have wanted. Obviously we’ll never know whether he’s right about that, but what we do know is that Nick and Leanne will do anything they can to make Sam happy, so they agree.

Excited, Sam invites Hope (Isabella Flanagan) to the party, which is going to be held in the bistro. Sam and Hope’s friendship has been a little bit rocky recently and Sam hopes this will be the chance for a fresh start – and he’s delighted when she agrees.

Hope is quite likely to be in her element at Halloween. ‘She’s maybe wired a bit differently than most kids her age,’ was how Corrie boss Iain MacLeod described her. He suggested that Hope’s ‘Innocent pre-teen romance’ with Sam would bring out a different side to a character who’s been a little strange so far in her Corrie career.
The daughter of serial killer John Stape (Graeme Hawley), Hope became fascinated by her dad and his grisly deeds. Her reenactment of his killing of Charlotte Hoyle led one of her teachers to take early retirement.

We’ve also seen her go to quite sinister lengths to get revenge for the killing of her pet chinchilla, by faking a dog bite on her arm using the stuffed weasel from the barber’s.
