An old clip of Conan O’Brien telling Danny Masterson he will ‘be caught soon’ has resurfaced after the actor was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for multiple rapes.
Earlier this week, the That ’70s Show star, 47, was found guilty of two counts of forcible rape.
Just minutes after, a clip of his appearance on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 2004 started circulating on social media, going on to amass over two million views within a few hours.
In the video, which was captioned with the news of the sentencing followed by the statement ‘Conan knew’, Masterson was quizzed by the comedy host about his lack of Long Island accent.
While it began as banter, an anecdote changed the tone of the conversation when the actor said his accent ‘just goes away naturally, and then there’s also certain words that there’s nothing you can do about’.
The anecdote involved his friend, actor Bodhi Elfman, who Masterson said ‘always teases me, and he says “Hi, my name is Danny Masterson, would you like to touch my balls?”,’ saying the last word with an exaggerated accent.
The talk show host then decided to call out what he’d just been told and asked: ‘So why are you asking people to do that? That’s the more important question.’
Masterson’s reply made things even more awkward,
‘I mean, you got ’em, you know what I mean? Everybody should grab,’ he said.

After pausing, Conan then said: ‘I’ve heard about you. And you’ll be caught soon, I know you will.’
He was met with a reply of: ‘I will.’
Following a lengthy court process, Masterson was convicted on two charges of forcible rape in May, with the jury unable to reach a verdict on a third count.
While he did not testify, his team argued that the sexual acts were all consensual.

LA Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo confirmed the sentencing in a hearing on Thursday.
According to Deadline, the Judge told the actor: ‘You are not the victim here … your actions 20 years ago were criminal.’
The outlet reported that, upon parole or release, Masterson will have to register as a sex offender.
It was also alleged that he used links to the Church of Scientology to escape repercussions for years.
