Kostas Tsimikas is set to sign a new contract with Liverpool which will keep him at the club until 2027.

The defender’s current deal runs until 2025 but The Athletic report that Jurgen Klopp is keen to retain the 27-year-old who is a valued member of the squad despite not being a first XI player.

The Greek international arrived at Anfield in 2020 from Olympiacos for a fee of just under £12million and has made 62 appearances for Liverpool so far, though only 35 of them have come in the Premier League.

Andy Robertson remains by far and away the first choice left-back, though Tsimikas has shown great form when given the chance to shine.

So far this season, he has played just four minutes as a late substitute in the 3-1 win over Bournemouth.

But despite his limited game time, Tsimikas is said to be settled in Merseyside and was very happy to agree a contract extension with talks swiftly progressing.

During his time with Liverpool, he has recorded 12 assists and was a part of the side that very nearly won the quadruple in 2021/22, only just missing out on the league title to Manchester City and losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid.

That season the Reds did win the FA Cup and League Cup double, with Tsimikas notably scoring the winning penalty in the shootout victory over Chelsea in the former.

On Thursday, he started for Greece as they lost 3-0 to the Netherlands in a Euro 2024 qualifier, but he’ll have the chance to get his country back to winning ways on Sunday when they host Gibraltar.

He could next be in action for Liverpool when they travel to Wolves on 16th September.
