More body parts belonging to a man found dead near a popular beach have been discovered in another location.

The partial remains of 49-year-old Simon Shotton were found near the Manor Steps Zig Zag, which leads down to Boscombe beach in Bournemouth, Dorset.

An investigation was launched after a member of the public found some of his body parts in a bag on August 26.

On Wednesday police activity was spotted at the former Mon Bijou Hotel, where another set of remains belonging to Mr Shotton were found.

Police tape was used to cordon off the area while crime scene investigators analysed the scene.

Dorset Police confirmed on Wednesday that further remains had been found in nearby Boscombe Chine Gardens, and while formal identification is yet to take place it’s believed they belong to Mr Shotton.

His remains were identified following scientific analysis. His family have been informed, police said.

Detective Inspector Neil Third said: ‘While we have yet to formally identify the latest remains discovered, at this time we do believe this is linked to our ongoing investigation and the family of Simon Shotton has been updated.

‘Our thoughts remain with them at this very difficult time.

‘It is important that as part of our ongoing investigation, we speak to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of Boscombe Chine Gardens between August 18 and September 1.

‘I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who has seen somebody in possession of a black suitcase acting suspiciously in the vicinity.’

Debbie Ann Pereira, 38, and Benjamin Lee Atkins, 48, both from Bournemouth, have been charged with murder.

‘While we have yet to formally identify the latest remains discovered, at this time we do believe this is linked to our ongoing investigation and the family of Simon Shotton has been updated.’
