Odysseas Vlachodimos is reportedly ready to challenge Andre Onana for the No.1 goalkeeper spot at Manchester United.
United are keen to sign a new No.2 goalkeeper with Dean Henderson strongly linked with a move to Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils have now handed an official offer to Benfica star Vlachodimos and he could sign a contract until 2028, according to reports.
It is thought that Vlachodimos wants to challenge United’s summer signing Onana and become the club’s No.1 goalkeeper himself.
Vlachodimos has made 225 appearances for Portuguese side Benfica since he joined them from Panathinaikos in 2018.
United, though, have not made a final decision on signing Greece international Vlachodimos despite making him an offer.
Erik ten Hag’s side are also strongly considering a move for Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and have already put him through a pre-medical.

United have been pursuing Bayindir for some time but they are concerned over a back injury, hence the extra layer of medical tests.
Bayindir has five caps for Turkey and has made 145 appearances for Fenerbahce since arriving at the Turkish club in 2019.
Fenerbahce appear to have already found their replacement for Bayindir and are reportedly closing in on a move for Dominik Livakovic.
