Beyonce could be making a surprise appearance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards if rumours are true.
Since May, the Formation singer has been busy travelling Europe and North America to promote the Renaissance album, with stops so far including London, Paris, New York, Atlanta and Toronto.
She only has 14 shows left before the tour wraps up on October 1 in New Orleans, but fans have spotted a very suspicious gap in the schedule that suggests she could be popping up at the VMAs.
The annual awards show, which primarily celebrates the best music videos of the past year, takes place on September 12 and Beyonce, 41, is not performing that day or September 13.
This could mean that she has intentionally left a spot open to allow her to attend the ceremony at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Renaissance tour will resume on September 14 in Seattle, Washington.
It wouldn’t be entirely out of place to think Beyonce would attend the awards as she is nominated for artist of the year alongside the likes of Taylor Swift, Shakira and Nicki Minaj. However, Queen Bey is not eligible for any of the other categories as she still hasn’t released any music videos for the Renaissance album, which dropped in July 2022.

Fans have been desperate for the singer to release the anticipated videos and it’s possible she could use the VMAs to debut a trailer for the visuals or make an announcement of some kind about them.
She has teased fans about the lack of music videos and recently quipped to fans at a tour show: ‘You are the visuals, baby.’
Sharing their theories about the mysterious tour break, one fan tweeted: ‘Wait it’s the VMAs soon, and Beyoncé has a gap in her schedule. We getting a performance?’
Another chimed in: ‘Followed by the trailer to the visuals.’
One BeyHive member agreed: ‘It lowkey makes sense. Visuals will ve released and played as the back drop.’
One fan has clearly done their research as they revealed: ‘She just did the Oscars last year.. she don’t do Grammys. She has literally has performed at the Mtv awards with EVERY albun. Lemonade, Self Titled, Etc etc.’

However, not everyone was convinced by the predictions as one laughed: ‘She ain’t going anywhere but her yacht. but keep hope alive.’
The VMAs have always played a part in some of Beyonce’s most memorable moments, such as when she announced she was pregnant with Blue Ivy in 2011 with a mic drop and belly rub, and when she went public with Jay Z in 2004, and, of course, the moment Kanye stormed the stage in 2009 and interrupted Taylor’s speech to declare that ‘Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time’ with Single Ladies.
This year’s VMAs will see performances from the likes of Demi Lovato, Karol G and Maneskin. It has not been announced who will host the ceremony.
Beyonce’s Renaissance tour resumes tonight (August 24) at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
