EastEnders autumn preview: Huge returns, new arrivals and shocking discoveries

An autumn to remember from ALbert Square!

This summer on EastEnders has been a dramatic one, but as we head towards autumn the BBC soap shows no signs of slowing down. With huge returns, new arrivals and the likelihood of a catfight or two, there’s plenty for fans to look forward to.

We have all been totally gripped by the mystery of missing Rose Knight, as daughter Anna (Molly Rainford) grows ever closer to finding out the truth.

However, it is far from over, as this story is only going to further explode through the autumn, with Cindy Beale set to make her highly anticipated return to Walford.

In an epic special episode earlier this year, it was revealed that Cindy is actually missing Rose, and we learnt that she had adopted the alias after being put into witness protection having turned informant on her cellmate in 1998. Within the episode, it was revealed that her protection had come to an end, and she was free to return to her old life should she so wish.

The last time we saw Cindy she was lounging on a French sunbed, after a dramatic day that saw Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) rushed to hospital following a heart attack. However, her return to the Square is imminent.

Her arrival is sure to set the cat among the pigeons, with daughter Gina (Francesca Henry) having already made it quite clear that she doesn’t want her to be found. There’s also the small matter of husband George’s (Colin Salmon) engagement to Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) and the fact that most of the Walford residents believe that she’s dead.

Not to mention, mother-in-law and deadly enemy Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) and daughter Lucy’s murderer Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) will surely not take too kindly to her return. Can we expect a fair few fights in the not-so-distant future?

    Alfie faces an uncertain future

Elsewhere, the future looks uncertain for Alfie Moon, who is set to embark on a difficult journey. However, he won’t face it alone, as he is set to find support in an unlikely place. Executive producer Chris Clenshaw has teased that Alfie has a ‘tough road ahead’, so this support may prove vital.

Meanwhile, the Slaters and Brannings are expecting a new arrival, as Lily’s (Lillia Turner) due date grows ever closer. We’ve seen the two families come to some blows over the idea of Lily and Ricky Mitchell (Frankie Day) becoming parents, but they have taken huge steps recently to overcome their differences and make things work. Will this be set to continue, or do old habits die hard?

Lily’s baby is due very soon

And of course, Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) is due to return to the Square at some point, having taken a job offer in Spain in order to provide for the baby. Could the birth be the catalyst for her return, or will we be kept waiting?

As well as worrying about the new baby, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) has been left terrified after the man she had been video calling in order to earn some extra cash turned into a full-blown stalker.

    Suki grows jealous

Viewers will know that the stalker is actually Lily’s tutor Theo Hawthorne (William Ellis), who has had full access to Stacey’s house for several weeks. He has been very clever about keeping suspicion off of him up to this point, but could he be set to slip up?

With Stacey trusting him completely, could she be set to put herself in further danger as he steps things up a notch?

Things aren’t looking much quieter for Stacey’s wife Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), who was recently dumped by girlfriend Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal),who chose to stay with abusive husband Nish (Navin Chowdhry) in order to protect them both.

Though they may not be together now, we get the feeling that their story is far from over, as Suki is set to grow jealous when a mystery woman starts asking around for Eve. What she doesn’t know is that the mystery arrival is hiding a big secret which is set to tear Eve’s world apart.

As Eve reels in the aftermath of her discovery, will she fall back into Suki’s arms?

Elsewhere, Patrick and Yolande Trueman (Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter) are set to make up for lost time, though their new-found bliss may not last for long, as they face an unexpected hurdle that could threaten their future.

With all of that and much more – including the lead up to that Christmas murder – still to come, it would be a travesty to miss a single episode!

We can’t wait for the stories to unfold in Abert Square, Cue the music!
