Roy tried to help Lauren (Pictures: ITV)
Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) popped into the cafe to tell Roy Cropper (David Neilson) that she’s leaving her job in Monday’s (August 14) edition of Coronation Street. As a conversation unfolded, one scene in particular captured the newcomer’s vulnerability as she thought Roy would want to have sex with her in return for bed and food for the night.
Lauren was feeling humiliated after another awkward encounter with Max (Paddy Bever). Lauren and Max were together when they were both in Griff’s (Michael Condron) extremism gang but since Max’s release from the STC, it’s been clear that he just wants to be friends with Lauren.
She arrived at the café and told Roy that she’d no longer be working as a waitress in the establishment as she didn’t want to increase the chance of bumping into Max.
Roy was concerned for Lauren, who also said that she’d more than likely sleep rough as she didn’t want to go back to the Platt household.
Beloved Roy – who has a history with helping troubled characters – told Lauren that she could sleep on the sofa in his flat, admitting that he’d end up losing sleep if he was aware she’d be homeless.
Lauren was really grateful for the offer, but then went on to speak about how Roy is ‘lonely’ and more than likely has ‘needs’.
The teen was making a sexual advance towards Roy and once he realised that, he stopped Lauren immediately.
Feeling embarrassed, Lauren could barely look at Roy, who wanted to know more about her mindset after his kind gesture.

Initially, Roy went to ask ‘what prompted you’ but then stopped himself, realising that his question would put the blame on Lauren – a young woman.
He then said, ‘did I do or say anything which may have led you to believe that I was expecting you?’, ensuring that a clearly damaged Lauren knew she hadn’t done anything wrong in the situation.

After clearing the air, Lauren asked Roy for a glass of water and as he left to grab one, he heard the door go.
He realised that Lauren had gone, meaning that she will sadly spend the night alone and on the streets after all.
