Gwen Stefani’s son made his first major steps into the music business this weekend when he made his debut on-stage performance.

The American singer and former No Doubt member, 53, was watching on as 17-year-old Kingston Rossdale took to the stage in the US state of Oklahoma.

Gwen co-parents Kingston with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, 57, the singer of American rock band Bush, to who she was married between 2002 and 2016.

Since her divorce from Gavin, Gwen married country singer Blake Shelton, 47, in 2021 – and Blake introduced Kingston on stage on Friday.

On X (Twitter), Blake promised fans he’d be performing at Ole Red, a live music bar in southern Oklahoma, in a few days, and that he had a special surprise.

‘Okay, y’all, here’s the deal,’ he opened up the message on social media. ‘7:30pm this Friday, I’m gonna set up and play 30 minutes or so acoustically.’

Ok y’all here’s the deal… 7:30pm this Friday I’m gonna set up and play 30 minutes or so acoustically. Then I’m gonna turn the stage over to a debut artist that will be doing their VERY FIRST public performance! See you at the @OleRed Tishomingo Doghouse!!!! You never know who…

    — Blake Shelton (@blakeshelton) August 9, 2023

He continued, teasing his step-son’s first public show: ‘Then I’m gonna turn the stage over to a debut artist that will be doing their very first public performance!’

Kingston performed an acoustic set to an excited audience that night which was described as ‘nervous but rousing’ and was greeted by cheers from the crowd.

Blake then greeted the budding musician as he walked off the stage, giving him a big hug, before doing a longer set of his own with some help from wife Gwen.

The pair performed No Doubt’s classic single Don’t Speak, which was originally released in 1997 and reached number one on the UK and Irish charts.

Ole Red is run by Blake and is named after his 2002 single, which reached number 14 on the country music charts before going on to achieve Platinum certification.

Gwen has three children and shares all of them with Gavin – 17-year-old Kingston, 14-year-old Zuma, and nine-year-old Apollo. They were married for 14 years.

In June, Gwen was a One Show guest and was reduced to tears when she was shown an emotional message from Pauline Black of 2-tone group The Selecter.

The band were closely associated with ska group The Specials and achieved five top 40 hits in the UK between 1979 and 1981, initially splitting up in 1982.

Gwen cited Pauline as an influence and credited The Selecter with defining a lot of No Doubt’s early sound as they blended alternative rock and ska.
