Forza Motorsport – is this going to be a recurring thing for Xbox Series X/S multiplayer games? (Picture: Microsoft)
Another major Xbox release will now launch without split-screen multiplayer, but it sounds like Forza Motorsport will at least get it later.
While Microsoft’s biggest priority is undoubtedly September’s Starfield, racing game fans also have the Forza Motorsport reboot (simply titled Forza Motorsport) to look forward to in October.
Developer Turn 10 Studios has certainly been busy, considering Forza Motorsport is a contender for the Xbox Series X/S’ best looking game. However, it seems that’s almost to its detriment.
In the latest Forza Monthly livestream, creative director Chris Esaki admitted that because of the new graphical features, Forza Motorsport will be launching without any split-screen multiplayer options.
‘Our heavy investment in pushing our new graphical features and our complete overhaul of the rendering engine unfortunately made split-screen really difficult to implement,’ explains Esaki.
This is naturally a blow to anyone who planned to play Forza Motorsport locally with friends, although Esaki’s phrasing does suggest that split-screen might be implemented later.
