Katy Perry has teased her next album is on the way and we’re already excited.
The Dark Horse singer last hit the charts in 2020 with Smile – a follow up to her 2017 record, Witness – which included hits Never Really Over, Daisies and Harleys in Hawaii.
However, despite being packed with some absolute bangers, it received mixed reviews from critics at the time.
The 38-year-old made a tongue in cheek dig at the reaction while on stage in Las Vegas on Wednesday, suggesting she has new music on the way.
A video has been shared on social media, showing the American Idol judge surrounded by dancers during her Play residency.
‘If you couldn’t love me in my Witness and Smile eras, then you can’t love me in my KP6 era,’ she told the audience.

Fans were living for the clip, and begged Katy for more information about her new music.
‘Oh Katy’s making a highly successful comeback with KP6,’ one said.
Another yelled: ‘PERIOD MOTHER! I WAS THERE IN BOTH AND WILL BE THERE IN KP6.’
‘Oh this is the beggining, shes really coming [sic],’ a follower agreed.
A commenter added: ‘I love you for all your 5 eras, Mother. Never doubted you one bit. Now where is KP6? We are starving!’
Katy will be returning to American Idol with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie (Picture: ABC)
We might be waiting a little longer as Katy was confirmed to be returning for season 22 of American Idol, alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
The upcoming series is set to debut next spring, with auditions kicking off recently.
The Firework musician has served as a judge on the panel since 2018, but it was suggested that she could be replaced after she sparked backlash during the most recent episodes.
She left fans unhappy with her criticisms of Nutsa Buzaladze, and was later booed for suggesting that the budding singer should ‘tone down’ her performances.
Luke previously condemned her critics in a chat with Fox News, telling the outlet: ‘Katy Perry’s been dealing with stuff like that her whole career. We all get it. We’re judging kids that people at home fall in love with. We’re not going to bat 1,000 as judges.
‘As judges, we fall on the sword a lot of times and get set up to where people can get very vocal on socials.
‘Katy gets picked on for going out and trying to have fun making a TV show. You can’t be so safe in the moment that you’re so homogenized, you can’t ever go for a joke, or go for a fun moment.
‘Sometimes, you’ve just got to say stuff. When you roll the dice on TV like that, however it gets perceived… It may be my year, next year but we’re conditioned and calloused for it.
‘Katy has been dealing with that on [the] whole. It makes me appreciate her even more, just how big of a scale she’s had to deal with that her whole career.’
